This week I had the opportunity to speak with Lydia House, the Director of Valley Oak SPCA & Matthew Davis who is the Events Coordinator & Animal Care Associate. We talked about the needs there at Valley Oak SPCA, which is a no kill shelter. They are always working on getting adoptions up and finding forever homes.

So who is Scarlett Parks? And what is this foundation all aboutt? I spoke to Don Searcy,the grandfather of Scarlett Parks & I learned about Rett Syndrome the rare, severe neurological disorder that affects mostly girls. It's usually discovered in the first two years of life, and a child's diagnosis with Rett syndrome can feel overwhelming. Although there's no cure, early identification and treatment may help girls and families who are affected by Rett syndrome. Don's grand daughter has Rett Syndrome and you can hear us talk about the Scarlett Parks Foundation and their upcoming event The Purple Pumpkin Party which I will help MC.

A new foundation has been created to assist the families of Fallen officers and assist in the purchase of life saving equipment for EMS and fire who are called upon during a crisis. What better way to learn about Lyme disease than from a stage 3 Lyme Survivor. She's been my best friend for over 30 years and I couldn't be more proud of this warrior. She is also an author, public speaker and as a result of her journey with Lyme disease, Founder of the Little Glimmer Lyme Foundation and is currently Elite Mrs. Colorado with Today's International Woman Pageant, her name is Lisa Renee Williams.
